You correctly point out in the "China Crisis" article that the Chinese populance have a very low carbon footprint. Their manufacturing, however, doesn't. Why? because we, The West, in our rampantly consumerist society have a ridiculously high demand for cheap goods which are made in countries like China. As with low-cost travel, it's our place to start making a difference. Charity begins at home etc..
So that'll be the ball in our side of the court again then.
