“I wish I could fly, right up to the sky, but I can’t…”

We can’t fly ,is the stark message from George Monbiot in Preparing for take off.
The most amazing fact for me? That would be funny, if it weren’t so infuriating. Our governments statistics for the pollution caused by flights, don’t take into account International flights. Why? It hasn’t been decided which country is going to be responsible for what part of the emissions! Jesus wept, what a bunch of tossers, we are in good hands! So people its down to us ,armed with this information. To fly or not to fly, That is the question.
“Thus conscience does make cowards of us all” ;-) .

As usual, The Governments of the West miss the point and lay blame on everyone else. “Not In Our Back Yard”
You correctly point out in the “China Crisis” article that the Chinese populance have a very low carbon footprint. Their manufacturing, however, doesn’t. Why? because we, The West, in our rampantly consumerist society have a ridiculously high demand for cheap goods which are made in countries like China. As with low-cost travel, it’s our place to start making a difference. Charity begins at home etc..
So that’ll be the ball in our side of the court again then.
    Matchpoint,
    Mr Blair to serve.
